This is the same exercise, seen from the other side of the violin. This view is often neglected but it gives us important information about our left hand's action and muscle state.
Notice how Justine's thumb moves with the hand. As a basic rule, in 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions the thumb maintains its relationship to the rest of the hand during the shift. Check by means of teacher feedback or video feedback, that after the shift, the thumb is in approximately the same place as before the shift.
It is important for teachers to move around in the lesson room so that they can see their student from all angles.
