The rebound movement is vital for hook stroke.

Try hitting your leg and bouncing off.
Then practise this on the string, lifting into the air on the rebound. This enables you to experience a complete release of bow friction.
Then leave the bow on the string as you rebound.

Hook stroke and martelé both need firm contact between bowhair and string at the beginning of the stroke....
