Slurred Groups

Slurred Groups

Practising with slurs allows us to focus on the rise and fall of the upper arm in passages of whole-arm string crossing.

In this passage from the "Preludio", Partita No.3 by Bach, pay attention to moving the upper arm back up to the D-string level every time.

Practising with slurs also helps us work on intonation and the musical shape.

Here we have Bars 17-19 from "Preludio".
