Repeat the Starting Note

To keep your aural map secure in chromatic scales it is useful to emphasise the starting note in each octave, as Fintan shows here.

Chromatic scales (like diminished 7ths) fulfill certain harmonic functions in music but they are not in a diatonic key. They are rather an arrangement of notes in a pattern of consecutive half-steps (chromatic scale) or consecutive minor thirds (diminished 7ths).

Also practise each octave ascending and descending before going on to the next octave....
