Left-Hand Frame Exercise

Left-Hand Frame Exercise

Setting up the hand to accomodate a free fingerfall of the 4th finger is vital for all fast clear playing.

Play 4th finger notes alternating with open strings, making sure the finger moves freely from the base knuckle and does not collapse at either the nail joint or the middle joint.

Use the 4-0 pattern to begin so that the 4th finger can find its optimal position then add the 2nd finger in the high position.

As the hand frame settles add in the 1st finger and then the low 2nd finger, making sure that the stretch that is necessary in most hands is achieved mainly by the 1st finger stretching back and not the 4th finger stretching forward.
