Introduction to Fundamentals

It is important to work on healthy fundamentals not only in the early stages, but to continue to develop them throughout our musical training.

Bowing fundamentals include:

Straight bowstroke. Playing with a bowstroke parallel to the bridge maintains a clear resonant tone.
Square position of right arm.
Change of bow direction.
Downbow retakes.
Actions in hand and fingers.
Control of bow speed and bow division.
Balance point of bow.
