Finger Pattern – Doubling the Tempo

Finger Pattern – Doubling the Tempo

Regular practice of finger patterns in quarter tempo, half tempo and tempo is good for improving technique and also makes a good warmup.

This is the High finger pattern with 3rd and 4th fingers close.

At the slower tempos concentrate on the springiness of the lift and drop of the fingers. Notice when the 4th finger drops onto the string the 3rd finger lifts in preparation for the 2nd finger drop.

At the faster tempo there is not time to focus on each individual finger action; instead think of the whole finger pattern.
